Long-Bin Chen is known for transforming out-of-date books, newspapers, magazines, and computer paper into art that—when viewed from a distance—appears to be made of wood or marble. With each sculpture, Chen acknowledges the wastefulness of contemporary society as well as the looming omnipotence of the digital age. His busts seem to predict that one day technology will make paper books as archaic as the ancient busts they imitate.
