Danish artist Asger Jorn’s paintings and graphics of violently swirling patterns of raw colored pigment with figurative elements emerging like phantoms reflect the artist’s desire to reach buried levels of human experience and reflect his attachment to Scandinavian myth and folk art. According to the artist: “A creative train of thought is set off by the unexpected, the unknown, the accidental, the disorderly, the absurd, the impossible.”
