This work comes from a twelve print portfolio by Louise Nevelson titled Façade, done in homage to poet Edith Sitwell (1887–1964) who published a series of poems under the same title beginning in 1918. The titles of the twelve prints come from Sitwell’s poems. Although the works in the series bear no resemblance to the poem that dictates their name, Nevelson noted that the poems were an inspiration for the creation of many of her other artworks.
