A local artist, Lucienne Bloch took advantage of the rich artistic environment of the 1930s here in southeast Michigan. When not assisting Diego Rivera on the Detroit Institute of Arts industry frescoes, Bloch made lithographs with Frieda Kahlo. Later, she also taught at the Flint Institute of Arts art school for most of the 1940s. This work depicts the J.P. Burrough’s flour mill which stood from the late 1800s through 2020 on the corner of Kearsley and Grand Traverse in Downtown Flint.
