A local artist, Lucienne Bloch took advantage of the rich artistic environment of the 1930s here in southeast Michigan. When not assisting Diego Rivera on the Detroit Institute of Arts industry frescoes, Bloch made lithographs with Frida Kahlo. She earned herself international recognition, winning the Gold Medal for Lithography at the Exposition des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, 1937. Later, she also taught at the Flint Institute of Arts Museum School ca. 1941-45, when she created this scene of Flint.
