Sioux men favored embellished clothing. This blanket strip served as an ornamental panel decorating an animal hide robe or cloth blanket. They evolved from narrow strips of porcupine quillwork to wider, bead-decorated examples like this one. The women of the tribe demonstrated their skill in decorating men’s clothing with accessories like a blanket strip.
