These statuesque figures create a homogenous group presented by the artist in a style that dialogues with an indigenous past, which refers to the Mayan roots of his country. So too does it recall ancient Greece, with the artist's choice of three female figures much like the Three Graces, a mythological subject depicted as sculptural groups and paintings through the Renaissance up until the present.
