By age 19, Mauricio Lasansky knew that printmaking would be his career path. In 1943, he won a Guggenheim Fellowship to study the print collection at the Metropolitan Museum of
Art. Within a few months of being in New York City, Stanley William Hayter, familiar with Lasansky’s reputation as a printmaker, invited him to join Atelier 17. There, he further studied and experimented with etching and engraving.
This work was created with both engraving, etching, and color added with the aquatint process. It features Lasansky’s son, Leonardo.
