Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 1924, James Kearns graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1950. He was an instructor for thirty years at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. His first one-man exhibition was held in New York in 1956, and since then his work has been included in various exhibitions. He currently lives aand works in Dover, New Jersey.
