Georg Ettl was part of the minimalist movement in America during the 1970s. He and several other artists during this time were experimenting with using acrylic plastic in their work. These often resulted in minimalist sculpture like Plastic City. The versatility of the material allowed the artist to create virtually any color in varying degrees of translucency.
