Gio Colucci studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He began making ceramics in 1929 and concentrated on his pottery in Provence during the Second World War. Untitled is typical of the work Colucci was producing while he experimented with ceramics in the 1930s. During this period, he often created stylized sculptures of nude women utilizing Cubist-inspired forms.
