Chaim Koppelman is a printmaker equally at ease with experimental and traditional techniques in graphic art, which is his specialty. He studied the philosophy of Aesthetic Realism with Eli Siegel in New York. Siegel’s Theory of Opposites had a profound effect on Koppelman’s work. In a statement from 1973, Siegel noted, “Art, even at its most technical, is continuous with life, not separate from it. Opposites are at the beginning of life and of art.”
