Hassam is perhaps best known for a series of paintings executed in New York between 1916 and 1918. Known as the Flag Series, these paintings depict parades along Fifth Avenue during World War I. Avenue of the Allies reflects this significant body of work. Unlike Lafayette Street, this lithograph was created with wax crayon only.
