Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1929, Bonevardi was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in 1958 to work in the United States. He has lived in New York City ever since. In total, Bonevardi has received two John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowships and two fellowships from The New School for Social Research. The recipient of several awards, he has exhibited continuously since 1956.
Bonevardi's work can be found in many public and private collections throughout the world including: the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, New York, New York; the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn, New York; the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York; Massachusetts Institute of Technology List Visual Arts Center, Cambridge, Massachusetts; Baltimore Museum of Art, Baltimore, Maryland; the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; The Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art, Providence, Rhode Island; Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires, Argentina; and the Tel Aviv Museum, Tel Aviv, Israel; to name just a few.
