Earthenware from the Veracruz region is notable for clay sculptures like this seated figure. Despite his unknown identity the size, pose, and details of this figure suggest his importance.
Sitting cross-legged, with arms extended to the knees this young man is without physical flaw. His features are smooth and symmetrical. The artist has taken care to render even the smallest details with great accuracy. His fingernails and toenails are delineated and individual teeth can be seen through his semi-open mouth.
