At fifteen Jaromír Rybák began a four-year training course in the Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia) at the High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod. While there he studied under Stanislav Libenský. Rybák, like many others, was heavily influenced by his teacher’s style. While remaining true to abstraction, Eye of Darkness illustrates his later fascination with opposing forces. He is drawn to dichotomy and his artwork explores sharp contrasts like organic and geometric, light and dark, harmony and aggression.
