Katja Oxman, born in Munich, Germany in 1942, came to the United States and studied printmaking and painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art then returned home to study at the Academy of Munich. In her prints, letters, postcards, birds, feathers, potted plants, cut flowers, and vegetables rest on richly patterned rugs. The objects in her work appear to levitate as a result of a tilted, nearly bird's eye perspective. Despite the rich variety of colors all of her work is produced using only red, yellow, and blue.
