William Walcot studied architecture at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg as well as the Ècole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He practiced architecture in Moscow for five years and then moved to London where he became a freelance draftsman. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and was the most celebrated architectural draughtsman in England through the 1920s and 30s.
