Using a technique called dimensional fused glass, Miriam di Fiore creates landscapes reminiscent of her childhood in Argentina. Beginning with a solid sheet of glass as her canvas, she paints her landscape using frits, or finely ground glass. For the trees she uses glass wires and lays them onto the glass sheet, which is then heated in the furnace. This process is repeated as many as seven or more times to achieve the final scene. The frame, created from the remnants of a washing board makes a connection between the wooden board and the trees within the landscape.
