Contemporary Czech glass has had a strong influence on the studio art glass movement worldwide. Pioneers such as Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtova, who came into prominence in the late 1940s, trained the next generation of artists in glass casting. From 1974 to 1980 Stanislava Grebeníčková studied under Libensky at the Academy of Decorative Arts and Architecture in Prague. Her artwork is reminiscent of the large, abstract forms popularized by her predecessors but her inclusion of the rough, organic folds on either side of the object make her art entirely unique.
