A visit to a glass factory during summer camp guided the trajectory of Vladimira Klumpar’s entire career. She was inspired by the qualities of the material and when the time came for her to attend high school she chose one that focused on glassmaking. Although she studied under Stanislav Libensky from 1974 to 1981 she was also inspired by watching Jaroslava Brychtová. Working on her own first kiln cast piece, she recalled watching Brychtová work at a government-owned facility in Czechoslovakia. Klumpar found was inspired to see another woman working in an almost exclusively male environment.
