This sculpture is made out of cut pieces of glass that have been laminated, or affixed together. In between each piece of glass Pavel Hlava includes an expressive pattern with bright colors and hatched lines. As one of the early pioneers of contemporary glass sculpture in the Czech Republic, Hlava believed glass was more than a medium for functional objects or architectural elements, it could be a medium for sculptural expression. Although he was inspired by nature, he was not interested in replicating it. Instead, he created abstracted forms that prompted the viewer to contemplate a realm beyond reality.
