Growing up in Murano, Italy, Lino Tagliapietra was a prodigy in the art of glass, and by the age of twenty-one he had earned the title of Maestro, or master. Both of these vessels were created using the blown glass technique and have titles from symbolic places. Bilboa, a city in Spain, is the home to over twelve museums, including the Guggenheim Museum Bilboa. It holds the distinction as one of the most creative cities in the world. Stromboli, an island in Italy is the site of a volcano that has been continuously erupting for 2,000 years. The works deep red tones are symbolic of volcanic fire.
