Yan Zoritchak was born in Slovakia and spent his childhood in this small mountain village, taking inspiration from the rugged landscape and open sky. It is here that he developed his passion for space, a topic he would return to over and over. He studied glass at the School of Applied Arts in Prague where he mastered monochromatic cast glass and decorative crystal techniques. After school Zoritchak experimented with different materials like copper and gold leaf to create artwork that evoked meteors flying through space or terrains of a distant planet. As you walk around this sculpture, added color and texture transform the clear glass into something out of this world, or as Zoritchak says, “the fourth dimension.”
