BiographyBorn in Cincinnati, raised in New Orleans, Dwight studied art in San Francisco at the Hopkins Art School. Travelled around Europe, working in Paris. Labeled an American Scene Painter, Dwight was best known for her depictions of the city life. She would portray the comic, yet tragic side of residents of big cities such as New York. Which may have stemmed from her political and religious views. She believed in championing the underdog of the cities. Dwight also created portraits and architectural prints. Between 1935 and 1939 Dwight created prints and watercolors for the Federal Art Project.
