BiographyBorn in Nashville, TN. Grooms is known for his whimsical works, often incorporating circus themes and his use of a variety of materials. Grooms studied at the School of Art Institute of Chicago, George Peabody College for Teachers, the New School of Social Research, and was a student of Hans Hofmann. In New York Grooms, along with Jim Dine, Allan Kaprow, and Claes Oldenburg, participated in “New Happenings”, a performance art group. Currently works and resides in New York.
